Rhonda Software is a camera design house and a close partner of Ambarella Inc., with a track record of over 25 years in R&D. Rhonda has worked with many companies helping them to develop their products in such areas as virtual reality (VR), wearable and drone cameras, automotive and robotic vision systems and many other applications.
As a service provider, Rhonda Software facilitates innovative camera product development with a major focus on complex designs and unique functionality including support of Artificial Intelligence and Neural Networks running on the network-edge device.
To help customers speed up their time to market with a camera implementation, Rhonda offers System on a Module (SoM) solutions based on various Ambarella Systems on Chip (SoCs): A12, H2, H22, S5L, CV22.
Rhonda H22 SOM
H22 SoM is based on Ambarella® H22S85N™ SoC and provides low-power, ready-to-integrate and production ready platform for rapid prototyping, quick development and the production of robots, drones, or other applications.
The platform features:
- 4K@60 H.264 / H.265 recording performance
- WiFi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity
- SD card and Micro-USB slots
- Onboard MEMS microphone
- HDMI, USB, LCD, battery operation, audio codec IC, GNSS and other peripherals available with customized Carrier board
- Compact size at 45mm x 39mm
Rhonda H2 SOM
H2 SoM is based on Ambarella® H2V95™ SoC and provides high interface and processing performance for VR and other multi-channel vision solutions.
The platform features:
- 4K@90 H.264 / 4K@60 H.265 recording performance
- Dual sensor 4K@30 + 4K@30 recording
- Back-to-back 360° real-time panoramic stitching
- 16 MIPI lanes, up to 4 image sensors connection is available
- WiFi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity
- SD card and USB type C slots
- Onboard MEMS microphone
- HDMI, Ethernet, USB 3.0, LCD, battery operation, audio codec IC, GNSS and other peripherals available with customized Carrier board
Rhonda CV2 SOM
CV2 System On Module (CV2 SoM) is a hardware platform for consumer and professional imaging products. CV2 SoM is based on Ambarella® CV2AX85™ SoC. CV2 SoM contains a main board and a set of daughter boards, allowing flexible functionality.
The platform features:
- Convolutional neural network (CNN) / deep learning support
- 8MP60 H.265 video recording
- Superior image quality of Sony ® Exmor RS™ image sensor
- Wi-Fi streaming
- Bluetooth connectivity
- USB streaming
- Inertial Motion sensor
- SD card
- USB Host for 4G Mobile connectivity
Rhonda CV22 SOM
CV22 SoM is based on Ambarella® CV22A75™ SoC and provides image processing capabilities with hardware acceleration of Convolutional Neural Networks for smart cameras with embedded Computer Vision.
The platform features:
- Convolutional neural network (CNN) / deep learning (DNN) HW acceleration
- 4K@60 H.264 / H.265 recording performance
- WiFi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac) and Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity
- SD card and Micro-USB slots
- HDMI, Ethernet, USB, LCD, battery operation, audio codec IC, GNSS and other peripherals available with customized Carrier board
Rhonda SOM SDK
Rhonda SOM is supplied with flexible MVP FW which supports the major scenarios and is highly configurable. However, since the single FW would not meet all of the possible requirements for all customers, Rhonda is introducing the Rhonda SOM SDK.
- SOM SDK allows extending the standard implementation with custom logic, providing controls to all camera functions
- SOM SDK allows focusing on user-level features without needing to dig into low-level HW programming
- SOM SDK is SOM agnostic – an Application written for one SOM model will work on other SOM model (in case it supports all of the required camera features)
SOM SDK contains 2 main parts:
SDK ON LINUX PC:
- Easy installation on any Linux workstation
- Handles environment setup and tool chain setup for cross-compilation
- Allows integrating custom packages and 3rd party libraries
- Handles all dependencies
- Generates a single file with the Customer’s application
RUNTIME ENVIRONMENT ON SOM:
- Launches a containerized application on target device using process isolation mechanisms provided by Linux kernel
- Execution in sandbox, reducing risk of system failures
